About Veterans Day

Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, is a cherished federal holiday in the United States, marked annually on November 11th. This day stands as a tribute to the courageous men and women who served in the United States Armed Forces, their dedication and sacrifice honored with gratitude. Its origins coincide with global observances like Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, commemorated in various countries to mark the end of World War I, when the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 saw the formal cessation of major hostilities with the Armistice with Germany.

The significance of Veterans Day, distinguished from Memorial Day in May, lies in honoring the service of all U.S. veterans.
